Welcome to my communications portfolio.

Before I was anything else, I was a storyteller. I started out in my childhood bedroom, writing stories to entertain myself and my friends. As I got older, my desire to interact with an audience put me on stage. I became a performer, sharing emotions and ideas with a crowd through the oldest forms of mass communication: acting, singing and dancing.

In the last few years, my interest in communicating with audiences has taken on a new form. Since 2021, I've gained experience in using social media content, email marketing, copywriting and other skills & programs to reach the masses. My artistic origins have provided me with a unique blend of empathy, enthusiasm and out-of-the-box thinking, which has allowed me to support organizations and causes I care about by promoting them within both real world and online communities.

As an Outreach Intern for the Utah Film Center, I restructured their Salesforce campaign hierarchy and updated contact categorization to boost efficacy both in SF and MailChimp outreach campaigns, resulting in an increase of attendance for outdoor summer screenings. As the Communications & Operations Fellow for the Utah Cultural Alliance, I dedicated myself to updating member contact information and reorganizing data in AirTable to improve member support and increase membership numbers. As Marketing & Communications Coordinator for Craft Lake City, I coordinated all media coverage of the organization, ran ad campaigns (including through billboards, local TV, Google AdWords), and devised a year-round social media strategy among many other tasks and responsibilities.

Below you will find examples of my work in social media management, content creation, blogwriting and more.

Social Media

Posts

As Marketing & Communications Coordinator, I assisted our graphic designer in art direction on multiple graphics including the one above and the one below.

In advance of events, I coordinated a team of photographers and videographers for maximum social media coverage. On-site and day-of, I followed through on my prepared strategy for posts following the day’s itinerary — including taking photos myself for feed and story posts.

While we were promoting Craft Lake City's flagship event, the DIY Festival, in 2023, local Instagram account 'salt_lego_city' was gaining traction in the community. Seeing the potential for a collaboration, I reached out about creating our own digital LEGO model. After establishing the goals of the partnership, I worked closely with the account manager to design the DIY Fest’s recreation, providing feedback to bring it closer to my team’s vision.

As part of our effort to highlight and support diversity in our community, I helped spearhead the DEI Awareness Month social media highlights campaign. This project included conducting interviews with one maker per week each month, and sharing the content of the interviews on both social media and on our blog. You can view examples of my blog writing on this project here.

Additional Work

Radio

During my time at Craft Lake City, I would often coordinate media coverage with local radio station 90.9FM KRCL. This included, on occasion, going live on-air myself. [starts at 28:24]
